Laundry Closet Make Over

While the husband is away the wife will craft!  During Andrew's Air Force career I have always looked for projects to do while he is away on TDY's or Deployment so when I found out he had a 72 hour shift at work I decided to give our laundry closet a makeover. It was much needed since we tend to leave the doors open.

In a perfect world I would paint this little closet a fun color and add better storage and shelving however its military housing so that just wasn't possible.  My inspiration came from all of the clothespin wreaths on Pinterest.  Halfway through my boring clothespin wreath I ran out of clothespins and had to make a trip to Target.  While at Target I found some great plastic baskets for $5 each, another pack of clothespins, and a board on clearance for $3.

Once the kids went down for the night I decided to paint some stripes on canvas to add some color to the room.  I then decided to add some paint to the clothespin wreath and a matching ribbon.  I then mixed up some paint for the board and added some knobs.

I love that I had most of the supplies in our craft corner and was able to give this ugly closet a huge face lift for $25 and a couple hours.

I still have a few things planned for the laundry closet but those will just have to wait for the next 72 hour shift!  Do you have any great ideas for a laundry room?  If so I would love to hear about them.

Taylor - Jamberry Independent Consultant

For as long as I can remember I have had a silly little quirk that I tried to keep a secret.  I CAN NOT LEAVE THE HOUSE WITH CHIPPED NAIL POLISH.  Seriously, I'll be an hour late before I show up with chipped polish.  What if I get hurt and end up at the hospital.  The staff sure doesn't want to see my chipped nail polish.

Check out the little baby flowers on my nails!
For years I thought I was doing a good job keeping my crazy little secret hidden.  Add a few kids to the picture and I found my husband asking me one day "Are you going to fix your toes, you never leave the house with your nails chipped". Being a mom has been really hard on my nails so I was super excited to discover Jamberry nail decals.  After reading a blog post on them I had to request a sample.  I did the 7 day trial where you put a decal on one nail and polish on the others. 11 days later my polish was changed 4 times but my Jamberry Nail still looked perfect so I decided I had to be a consultant.

Babies down for a 1 hour nap, opened kit and put decals on my nails and still had time for a cup of coffee!

Spontaneous Zoo Trip

As we walked into the church parking lot on Sunday morning we were surprised to find blue skies and sunshine peaking through the clouds.  The hubby and I decided we needed to add some spontaneity to our completely scheduled life so we took the kids to the Alaska Zoo.
Walking through the trees you find many animals that you just may find hiking in Alaska.  Strolling up to the brown and black bears sent chills down our spine.  It was a great reminder how scary it would be to stumble across one of these huge animals while exploring Alaska.  Don't worry mom and dad, we will continue to carry our bear bells and spray.

The musk ox exhibit was one of our favorites.  We couldn't help but stand in the sun and admire these beautiful creatures.  They fit into the same category as my parents dog...  so ugly that you can't help but think they are cute.

We also got to see the Funny River Wolf Pups before they flew to their new home at the Minnesota Zoo.

It was nice to get out and let the littles explorer the animals that make Alaska so exciting in a safe environment.

What do you do to keep your life with little ones spontaneous?

Mrs Messi

Epic Crib Party

By the looks of the drool stained crib sheets, the paci's and the bags under my eyes that must have been one EPIC crib party!

If you attended a crib party last night I would love to hear about it.  It is always nice to sympathize with other  sleep deprived mama's!
